Overview National Fire Experts, a leader in the property insurance intelligence industry, is seeking a Part-Time Fire Investigator to join our team in Sacramento, CA. Duties And Responsibilities Timely field visits to loss sites to conduct cause and origin investigations. Provide honest and unbiased analysis and consultation on various fires and explosions. Conduct field studies and research on a daily basis. Travel to perform investigations within a 100-mile radius (further when required); occasional overnight travel may be required. Interact with clients and handle sensitive and confidential information. Write and submit detailed, accurate reports in a timely manner per company guidelines. Communicate with customers to provide timelines and project updates. Provide expert testimony and/or depositions as needed. Work a flexible schedule during peak business demand. Deliver excellent customer service to internal and external customers. Perform other duties as assigned by management. Minimum Qualifications Must have CFEI certification through NAFI, or CFI certification through IAAI (preferred). Must hold or obtain a Private Investigator License in assigned state within 60 days of employment (if applicable). Familiar with NFPA 921 and meet NFPA 1033 requirements for fire investigators. Previous expert testimony or deposition experience is highly preferred but not required. Degree or some college coursework is preferred but not required. At least 2 years of hands-on experience in fire origin and cause investigations for residential and/or commercial properties. Strong organizational skills and the ability to deliver fast, accurate turnaround times. Ability to manage multiple projects and work under high stress during peak periods. Physical capability to climb ladders, roofs, crawl through tight spaces, etc., as needed. Willingness to travel and work remotely, including a home office setup and a reliable high-speed internet connection. Valid driver’s license with acceptable driving record. Excellent written and verbal communication skills; customer-service oriented and ethical conduct. Experience writing detailed investigation reports is highly preferred; strong computer skills are required. Physical Requirements Frequently stand for prolonged periods. Frequently lift and/or move objects up to 100 lbs. Frequent climbing of ladders, roofs, stairs, scaffolding, ramps, etc. Frequent bending, kneeling, crouching, and crawling; reach with hands and arms. Extensive time operating a motor vehicle.
