Job Description – Position Summary We are seeking a detail-oriented and experienced professional to join our team as a HELOC Processor & Underwriter. This hybrid role is responsible for managing the end-to-end processing of Home Equity Line of Credit (HELOC) applications while also performing underwriting duties to assess creditworthiness and ensure compliance with lending policies. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, a customer-focused mindset, and the ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment. Key Responsibilities – Processing Duties Review and verify HELOC application documentation for completeness and accuracy. Order and evaluate third-party services (e.g., credit reports, title work, appraisals, flood certifications). Communicate with applicants, loan officers, and internal departments to gather missing information and provide status updates. Prepare loan files for underwriting and ensure timely progression through the pipeline. Maintain accurate records and ensure compliance with regulatory and internal guidelines. Underwriting Duties Analyze credit reports, income documentation, asset statements, and property valuations to determine borrower eligibility. Apply lending guidelines and risk assessment criteria to approve or deny HELOC applications. Document underwriting decisions clearly and concisely, including rationale and conditions. Collaborate with processors and management to resolve complex loan scenarios. Stay current on regulatory changes and internal policy updates affecting underwriting standards. Requirements – Qualifications Education: High school diploma or equivalent required; associate or bachelor’s degree in finance, business, or related field preferred. Experience: Minimum 3 years of experience in mortgage or HELOC processing and/or underwriting. Skills: Strong knowledge of lending regulations (e.g., RESPA, TILA, ECOA). Proficiency in loan origination systems and document management platforms. Excellent communication and organizational skills. Ability to multitask and prioritize in a deadline-driven environment. Analytical mindset with attention to detail.
